Research Opportunities in NSM
Our faculty, whose research covers the areas of biological sciences, chemistry and biochemistry, geosciences, mathematical sciences, and physics, encourages undergraduates in particular to get involved in research on campus and many are looking for students to join their labs.
Undergraduate research offers a unique experience distinct from structured teaching labs. It involves tackling novel problems, developing innovative solutions, and gaining valuable skills.
Engaging in research enhances presentation abilities, fosters collaboration, and expands knowledge of various techniques. These experiences are crucial for obtaining recommendation letters, job opportunities, or post-graduation internships.
Moreover, conducting research allows for the exploration of cutting-edge innovations, hypothesis development, rigorous testing, and the potential to publish in journals. Participation in research fosters interdisciplinary thinking and hones problem-solving skills.
Options for Working in a Lab: Students can get independent study credit (contact your academic advisor for options), volunteer or get paid under some circumstances.
