COVID-19 Preparedness

The School of Natural Sciences & Mathematics (NS&M) takes your health and safety seriously. As you have heard from President Benson, we are quickly moving our classes and labs online. Most of this will run through eLearning, or similar systems supported by UTD, but there will be some difference from course to course and section to section. Example systems might include:

There are currently about 10,000 students taking at least one NS&M course this semester – including about 95% of all freshmen and sophomores. As such this will take effort and patience on everyone’s part. As part of this, so that we know we are still educating everyone, we ask the following:
Please contact the instructor of your course if:

  • You DO NOT have access to high speed internet
  • You DO NOT have enough data in your internet/phone plan.
  • You DO NOT have a computer/tablet on which you can create documents for homework/quizzes/tests
  • You have other issues that will make on-line learning very difficult or impossible.

If there are other MAJOR issues related to moving classes online, please contact Dr. Goeckner, and he will attempt to respond. (Understanding that there are 10,000 students.)

Stay healthy

Sincerely

Dean Sherry, PhD, Interim Dean of Natural Sciences and Mathematics
Matthew Goeckner, PhD, Associate Dean of Natural Science and Mathematics
