Professor G. Andrés Cisneros, department head for NSM Physics, and professor of physics, chemistry and biochemistry, has been named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), a U.K.-based learning society established in 1841 with the formation of the Chemical Society of London.
In 1980, four major British chemistry societies — the RSC, the Society for Analytical Chemistry, the Royal Institute of Chemistry and the Faraday Society — merged to form the Royal Society of Chemistry.
Fellows are nominated by colleagues for their impact on scientific advancement and benefit to the application of chemical science through:
“It is an honor and a privilege to be recognized by my peers, as this is the oldest professional society of chemists in the world. I would also like to sincerely thank my group, and my nominators, for their efforts and their vote of confidence,” said Cisneros.
The Cisneros Research Group at UT Dallas is dedicated to the development of computational methods and their application to study chemical and biochemical systems.
The lab focuses on the investigation of enzymatic reaction mechanisms, discovery and characterization of cancer biomarkers, and development of new software for polarizable QM/MM + classical simulations using conventional and quantum computers.
