Actuarial Science
At a glance
Did you know UT Dallas is one of only 20 Centers of Actuarial Excellence (CAE) in the U.S. and the first in Texas? This is the highest level of recognition for universities by the Society of Actuaries (SOA).
NSM’s fast-growing Actuarial Science program, offered by the Department of Mathematical Sciences, prepares the future leaders of risk assessment and business management. We train students to use mathematical models and statistical techniques to predict the likelihood of events such as accidents, illnesses, or natural disasters, and determine potential financial losses.
Our graduates have the skills and knowledge to take the professional actuarial exams administered by the SOA and the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS), which are required to become an actuary. Our curriculum covers the content of five preliminary exams and fulfills the validation by educational experience (VEE) requirements.
